General Information

Metro Industries offers truly a one-stop shopping when it comes to solid rubber gaskets, seals, pads, cushions, extrusions, molded parts, and other OEM rubber components.  We have the inventory, equipment, experience, and expertise necessary to meet the high demands of OEM rubber components.   We know that when it comes to your equipment, the parts that go in it are never just rubber gaskets or only rubber seals, they are your business and reputation.   Metro has worked closely with equipment manufacturers from a wide variety of industries for over 35 years  ensuring that their rubber components not only work, but continue working in whatever temperature, atmosphere, pressure, or chemical extremes their customer's may subject them to.

There are three basic ways that rubber is compounded and cured: Calendared Sheet Rubber, Extrusion, and Molded.    Sheet Rubber can be supplied in manufactured roll, sheet, or slab form, but is typically slit, sheared, die cut, laser cut, or water jet cut into standard or custom configurations according to the application requirements.  Molded and Extruded Rubber products are typically made according to their end application, but can also be processed through various post-cure machine operations as necessary.  Most rubber compounds can be mixed, processed, and cured through any of these three methods.

The first issue to be resolved in designing a rubber component is the rubber compound itself.   Physical property, application environment, and cost factors generally determine the best compound for any given requirement.   Then the numerous process options must be weighed in the balance to determine the best method to arrive at the desired configuration.   Part or product size, configuration, tolerance requirements, and quantity are usually the main considerations in this.

Most rubber products can be made through various different methods, which is why it is important for a supplier to consider ALL the options objectively, not just the options that fit into their own area of specialty.   Metro Industries is just such a supplier.
